No More Perfect Friends

It’s been awhile since I have participated in the Hearts at Home blog hop– but this month, I am back at it. We are still picking topics that relate to Jill Savage’s book No More Perfect Moms (have you read it yet?) and No More Perfect Friends is next on the list!

I have been blessed with some amazing friends– friends who have seen me at my worst, my best, and every day in between. I can say that my best friend from high school and I are still really, really close, and for that I am thankful. I have friends that I can catch up with through text every other day and friends that I chat with daily. I even have an entire community of other friends thanks to this blog.

None of these friends are perfect. There is no such thing!

As humans, we are not perfect, so expecting that out of our friends is a little extreme, no? You might say the wrong thing or do the wrong thing. You may drift apart and not know how to fix it. I’ve been there. Have you?

Friendships take work, but most importantly they take grace. Lots of it, too! The best part about good friends that aren’t perfect? Is that they understand that you aren’t either. When you find those people in your life that can dish out grace as well as take it? Well, that’s something to be proud of. Find those people and latch on to them! They might bring out the best in you, and in turn, you may bring out the best in them.

Sometimes we lose friends along the way. Recently, that happened to me. Life goes on, and though it is hard, I am finding that spending my time with people who love and care about me is much more important than worrying about a lost friend. As a mother, I am finding that my friendships with women in my life are so rewarding because they bring new perspective into my life daily. I am so, so thankful for them and that the Lord has brought them into my life!

What about you? Do you have a community of friends? A few close ones? Are you struggling in a friendship? Take the time today to pray for and tell your friends that you are so glad to have them!
