How is it already November? October went in a blur!
Last weekend, we had a wonderful trip to Des Moines to meet my aunt, uncle, cousin, and my cousin’s husband. Waterpark, shopping, and food– what more could you want?
I am not usually one for letting the kids ride the rides anywhere (I know, I am such a mean mom! but usually it’s because I have no quarters) but once Kenley saw Mickey Mouse, she wasn’t leaving until she got to ride next to him!
So of course I caved twice. Silly kiddos.
We hit the outlet mall in Williamsburg (hello, Ugg outlet and fabulous new boots!) then headed toward our final destination.
Let me say that when I booked the waterpark hotel (genius so the kids had something to do!) I had NO IDEA how many people would be there on a Friday and Saturday night. It was so loud, I could barely hear myself think! The chaos died down Sunday and we had the whole place to ourselves, but my nerves were getting tested with THAT many people around.
I packed the kids’ Halloween costumes so they could trick or treat at my aunt and uncles room. Due to the insane heat of the pool area, I let Kenley just go in her Minnie Ears hat. Last night it was cold enough to wear her new hoodie! Her “costume” was stuff we already had– but Brayden, of course, wanted to be Dusty Crophopper. My friend Jacqui was the first to spot this costume at Target, and I just knew he would love it!
They got all kinds of goodies! Books, a movie, coloring books, and of course, candy!
We had a great time and its always good to see them, since we hardly ever get to! We came home Monday, so my week is totally off. I keep thinking a day behind, and my brain can’t get in sync with this week.
–On a sad note, yesterday, a dear friend and local police officer and his K9 dog were killed in an accident. It has been a blow to our community, to our friends, and to Casey’s family. Please lift them all up in prayer as they get through the coming days. Casey was one of the nicest guys I have ever met, and he will be sorely missed. Draco, his dog, and he were partners for 5 years. So heartbreaking.
